Alison Jones and Finlay I didn’t find out about Fit Mama until I was about 25 weeks gone, but it’s true that you really can start at any stage in your pregnancy – I’d just suggest that you do it sooner rather than later as it’s so damn good! |

I found the classes great fun, a good way to meet other local mums-to-be, and always came home feeling calm and energised. It’s amazing how NOT exercising can drain your energy. And the real proof of the pudding, of course, came along with the first contractions…. I was incredibly lucky and had a short (4.5 hour) completely natural labour with no pain relief, and I’m sure that this was at least partly due to the fitness and stamina I’d built up over those last few weeks of pregnancy. The tai-chi moves were particularly helpful in the early stages, keeping me calm and focused, and the breathing and relaxation techniques I’d learnt were invaluable when push came to… well, push. I’m looking forward to starting the post-natal course with Finlay in tow once we’ve had our 6-week check! Update: Alison has recently started the postnatal programme and yes, Finlay is as gorgeous as his picture shows, we can see where he gets his looks from! |

April Jewkes and Toby I was so pleased having discovered 'Fit Mama'. It meant I could safely continue to keep fit throughout the whole of my pregnancy. Marie is a great instructor with a wealth of knowledge and very caring attitude that I felt I was in safe hands throughout. It was also nice to share the whole pregnancy experience with other mums to be in Marie's class and meant I made a lot of great new friends along the way. |

When I went
into labour I certainly put to use the
knowledge I had gained having attended
'Fit Mama' and as a result I felt
very calm and in control. The breathing
techniques worked wonders and in between
contractions I applied Tai Chi style moves
as taught in the classes. When the
contractions became stronger I used the
Tens machine
that I'd hired from Marie, I also began
using Gas and Air at about the 18 hour stage
(yes I had a long labour!). And whilst I had
planned a home birth, following a 20 hour
labour I eventually went along to
Basingstoke Hospital where it turned out my
baby was breech. I therefore had a C-section
(sun roof job!) and out popped our beautiful
son Toby weighing 8lb 3oz. Update: We have been thrilled to see our lovely Ballerina, April, at the postnatal programme, along with Mr Giggles, who really does live up to his nickname! |

Gerry Britz and Baby Evie I started my Personal Training for Pregnancy with Fit Mama when I was about 12 weeks pregnant. It was my third pregnancy and I was determined to have a home birth, and I was sure I would be more likely to achieve it if I was fit and healthy. The one to one sessions kept me focused and fit and the end result was that I achieved my goal of having little Evie at home. |
|
The sessions were great fun and extremely
relaxing and enabled me to really enjoy my
pregnancy. I felt it enabled me to get back
in to shape very quickly after delivery. |
